Volunteer

AMURTEL was founded by women volunteer activists, and volunteers remain a vital part of its structure and mission. Encouraging active citizenship, participation and community spirit are important principles of our work, so both international and local volunteers are involved and welcome in our projects.  
 
Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to discover new talents and experiment with possible career paths. We see volunteering as a form of creative expression. When we are not being paid for our work, then we tend to choose to do the things that give us true joy and satisfaction. Indeed, contributing to the happiness and well being of others by doing something we enjoy is a great reward in itself and leads us towards our full human potential. Whether teaching art to children from a disadvantaged rural community,  helping to harvest vegetables on an organic farm that feeds children at the Familia AMURTEL home, or sharing skills in massage therapy at our holistic center – our volunteers find many unique ways to contribute to the lives of those we serve. We accept volunteers with a wide variety of skills, talents and interests.  Those with creative, artistic, or sports skills can join our educational projects, while those with an interest in ecology, permaculture or organic farming can work on the farm.  We also accept volunteers with specialized experience in various natural health treatments as trainers or guest practitioners at our holistic center.
