Great news! Finally, Carolina* (13 years old) and Ana* (10 years old) joined the AMURTEL Family in January!
Back in November, when we visited Cami’s* family, our social worker noticed that the situation at home had seriously deteriorated, and Cami’s younger siblings were in danger and very neglected. However, the local social worker was reluctant to take action.

Santa’s Visit
Cami, along with Didi, delivered presents to her siblings on Christmas Day, and their eyes shone with happiness. Cami was so proud to be Santa.
Running away
In the first week of January, the girls ran away to a neighbor. They were urgently placed in the care of the AMURTEL Family and were overjoyed to be with their sister, Cami, again.
They are now safe: “You can have your own bowl of soup.”
In the first few weeks, our care team focused solely on helping them feel safe and integrate into the routine of the house. Violeta, our social worker, confessed to us that they were not used to basic routines, such as combing their hair and brushing their teeth daily. When Laura* came home from school and only ate half of her soup, Ana immediately started eating the leftovers. Violeta could hardly hold back tears when she told her that she didn’t need to do that – there was enough food and she could have her own bowl.

One of our main sponsors had to reduce their donation by 50%, and inflation has increased our costs considerably. Our annual Christmas campaign went well, but we have a deficit of 50,000 euros. This means we need about 10 new sponsors for each child to cover this deficit this year.
