Bringing Emergency Psychology to Romania
Melinda Endrefy, AMURTEL Romania’s Emergency Psychologist, is bringing unique professional expertise into Romania. Melinda is a Romanian citizen of Hungarian ethnicity who lived in Spain for many years, where she trained and became qualified in the profession of Emergency Psychology, something which is new to Romania. Emergency Psychology is a low-intensity, rapid intervention that happens as soon as possible after trauma, in order to stabilize the person and reduce the likelihood of longer-term PTSD symptoms. Thanks to generous support from CARE France, Melinda’s professionalism combined with her natural kindness are bringing light in a moment of darkness for many Ukrainian refugees suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression and confusion, at the Siret border.
