On September 8, 2015, the AMURTEL Bio Garden was awarded the first place prize in the UniCredit “Your Choice” competition, which was organized through NESST, an important incubator of social enterprises in Romania. It was a satisfying recognition for the project team, in particular Violeta Gabriela Ghinea, the local manager from Panatau, who said, in her characteristically jovial style that after so many years of effort the project “deserved to at last recieve a prize.”
The award of 5000 euros will be used to buy a new greenhouse, with more resistant materials to protect it from breaking under the heavy loads of snow that this mountainous region sometimes receives in the winter. This will help the farm to expand its productivity, and thus ensure more financial stability and food security for the projects.
