Assoclic: Developing computer literacy in Panatau village!

“Developing Computer Literacy” is a project to offer access to education and to build computer literacy skills amongst disadvantaged youth and children from Panatau village, in Buzau county, Romania. AMURTEL Romania was selected by Ateliere Fara Frontiere during the Asococlic competition, and rewarded a donation of 6 computers in order to achieve the project objectives. The project was implemented by the Panatau Elementary School, the Fountain of Hope, and Familia AMURTEL children’s home this summer.

IMG_1943The first phase of instruction took place in the month of August in Familia AMURTEL. The younger boys took part in a training with Iulia Halangescu. They were thrilled to get to unpack the new computers. When they began learning some basics, they were very excited. They couldn’t believe that they could do it. It was an opportunity to increase their self esteem and help them to feel equal to the grown ups who “know” how to use a computer. Ionuts, one of our beneficiaries, even proclaimed that he could help us by becoming the secretary, so that Violeta wouldn’t have to do everything alone.
